The Federaçao Caboverdiana dos Professores (FECAP) in Cape Verde is committed to providing educators with adequate tools to combat the COVID-19 outbreak and gender-based violence in educational institutions.
FECAP held a major conference and workshops on December 19th highlighting the role of teachers in tackling gender-based violence in education and in dealing with the COVID-19 crisis in schools.
According to the union's general secretary and member of Education International's Africa Regional Committee, Abraão Borges, FECAP is determined to tackle these crises and keep them out of our schools.
The education union has visited several schools in Cape Verde and distributed educational posters to raise awareness in the educational community about the fight against gender-based violence and the COVID 19 virus.
Borges said the union intends to continue these campaigns and is seeking the necessary financial support from national and international partners to do so.
